Know Our Neighborhood History

The WBNA recently installed four historic marker panels with information on the rich and complex history of our neighborhood. Two can be found in Dexter Training Ground, and two more in Luongo Square.

Start Date: 2017 / Installed: 2021

Goals

  • Educate, inform and include the public about the history of the neighborhood’s social and built history

  • Enrich our public spaces with informative signage and instill a Pride of Place

  • Provide context and connection to past, present and future of the neighborhood

  • Show the power of civic engagement

  • Share stories of history and people from multiple perspectives especially “lost” or previously “untold” stories

  • Create a replicable marker template so more stories can be told and more markers installed
