ACES, or Armory Citizens Enabling Shelter, is a WBNA initiative that expands our ongoing collaboration with House of Hope CDC to provide outreach and supportive services to homeless and housing insecure individuals in the Dexter Training Ground area.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Join with other neighbor-volunteers in assisting individuals in our neighborhood who are facing challenges related to homelessness. After receiving a short training from House of Hope, volunteers go out in pairs to engage with people potentially needing services in Dexter Training Ground, assess needs and challenges, and facilitate help. The mission is to assist those who need and want it, with a goal of addressing housing needs first.
You don’t need special skills to help, just a willingness to give about a half an hour of your time per week. ACES seeks to hold two shift periods per week for volunteer outreach. Contact David or Ben at wbna@wbna.org for more information.
Shower to Empower
As part of WBNA’s partnership with House of Hope CDC, the Shower to Empower trailer began offering hot showers, haircuts, and mental health counseling in the neighborhood as of February 1. The trailer is available once a week, offering another resource for needs assessments and connections to appropriate supportive services including housing, healthcare, income, and immigration assistance.
